Lost in His Kiss by Tracie Douglas Review!

Annabella George never thought she’d find love again, and then she met Detective Jordan Lockwood. His kisses are addicting, and his touch sets her on fire. Everything about him is right, but her heart isn’t ready to admit it.

Jordan is a man who knows what he wants, and he won’t stop until she’s his. Convincing her he’s finished with his bachelor lifestyle isn’t easy, especially when she’s the one holding back.

But one phone call changes everything, and as the New Year approaches, Annabella has a choice to make: admit what she feels or walk away forever.

***WARNING*** This book is a novella, but it is part of The Lost Series. It’s hot but not as suspenseful as the others.

Surviving on caffeine most days, Tracie Douglas lives in Southern California with her husband, two children, two dogs and one really fat cat. She spends her days chasing children and fur babies, all while maintaining the illusion of sanity.

Her nights are spent toiling away at the keyboard, creating a world filled with hot men and strong women. She loves to read and write all types of book but tends to lean on the darker side of the spectrum. She’s pretty handy with a crochet hook too.

Tracie loves to hear from her readers!

Tracie Douglas, you tease. You big, giant, dirty TEASE. I HATE YOU. Ok, I’m kidding. You’re actually amazing. Please, I’m sorry. I was in an emotional place, but I’m better now, I swear. I will be better for you. Just keep writing ok?

Lost in His Kiss is a novella in a new world, NYE Kisses with the characters from Tracie’s Lost Series. So if you’re looking for something sweet, with a bit of mystery and a cliffhanger, then this is the book for you.

It’s not a real cliffhanger. It’s just the kind that teases you with the next book in the Lost Series, which is the reason for my slightly over dramatic, mean, words before. — Which I’ve already apologized for, like, idk why you’re still talking about it… Whatever.

ANYWAYS, Lost in His Kiss the short and sweet New Years story of Annabelle George and Detective Jordan Lockwood. Their story began with a hint from another book, little tidbits, and gave us more insight to the rest of the series while also giving an older (I ONLY SAY OLDER BECAUSE SHE’S NOT 20 PLEASE DON’T BE MAD AT ME) woman and man their HEA.

Annabelle, Anna to most, Belle to Jordan, is locked in the past, mourning the death of her husband long since past. Jordan is a Detective that frequently helps out Cole Securities on their cases. They meet at Anna’s office, where she is the secretary to the boys we all know and love, where she denies their connection.

Jordan, tired of waiting, takes what he wants. So really, what I meant by short and sweet was dirty, sexy, loving, and yup, still too short.

But it’s ok, because we, and I mean those of us obsessed with the Lost Series, got a glimpse into the characters, a tease of what they’re doing, how they are, what their lives are up to (and if I’m speaking as if they’re real it’s cause they are. No, don’t argue. They are.)

Do you have to read the Lost Series to understand what’s happening? Probably, no. However, I highly recommend it. There’s some information in it that might leave you scratching your head, but if it doesn’t leave you itching to read the series, there’s a problem. (Again- don’t argue.)

So five stars, Tracie, for this wonderfully well written novella, for making me fall in love with the alpha boys and the family you’ve created all over again, and TEASING ME.

Luh yuh gurl.

Is there anything KL Donn can’t write?! I mean seriously…

When I read a blurb and it’s got that “Modern Day Fairy Tale” vibe I either skip it or devour it. There’s no middle for me. I either love it or hate it, swoon or roll my eyes. Like with dark romance, the fairy tale trope is a fine balance between creating something new, and keeping the theme. It’s walking a tight rope of heroine that needs help and one that is strong in her own right; between alpha hero and jerky prince.

Safe, In His Arms found that delicate balance between gag me with a spoon and “OMG I LOVE THIS.” Grace Hawthorne is a perfect mix of damsel in distress and independent woman. Trying to find her way in life after being held captive (basically) by her step mother, she’s trying to break the chains that have held her down for so many years.

Onyx Inwood is a man looking for something more than random hookups, but is lost between his job and reality. He hasn’t found the balance either, living his life trying to protect his community. From the moment he meets Grace, the moment he gets a fleeting glimpse, he knows she’s something special.

CUE THE CINDERELLA VIBES.

Safe, In His Arms is a novella. It’s short, sweet, and sexy. I’d say it’s classing KL, but that would be a lie (see the Adair series). Honestly, after the dark and intense emotions she put me through in the Adair Empire, I kept waiting for the crazy twist. Spoiler: It never came. Why? Because I think we all needed something fluffy to keep us sane. There’s only so much death and torture a person can take.

From the description, I was hooked. KL didn’t leave me disappointed either. Honestly, you should just expect a 5 star review from me for any of KL’s books. She blows me away with each and every novella and story she weaves. I’m still waiting for another full length novel, because I can never get enough of her, but I take what I can get.

If this book leaves you wanting anything, it’ll leave you wanting more.

Stroking Her Fire by Mila Crawford is Live!

I’d always loved her even if she never knew.

Growing up as Avery’s friend was the hardest part of it all, especially when all I wanted to do was claim her as mine. But I was that awkward, geeky kid with the black-rimmed glasses and was a social outcast.

Time and distance had separated us but I never forgot about her. My love for Avery never lessened. It only grew.

Now back in town, working as a firefighter. I doubt she’ll recognize me. I’m big, strong, and confident, so different than what I was all those years ago. Seeing her again after so long has me realizing too much time has passed. I know what has to be done.

I need to let Avery know she’s mine and that nothing and no one would stop me from claiming her.
Warning: This is a friends-to-lovers, double virgin safe romance that also has that spark of filth thrown in. Yes, you read that right … double virgins. No need to wear protection for this one because these two know exactly what they want and that’s each other.

Jackson

I’d gone to the hospital to check on the little old lady that I’d grabbed out of the fire. She reminded me of my grandmother, and I’d had this desire to make sure she was doing okay.

I made my way down the hall toward her room, gave the door two knocks, and pushed it open. A woman sat in front of the hospital bed, her long dark hair falling over her shoulders in tumbling waves.

She must have heard me enter because she stood up and turned, facing me.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” I said, about to turn around, but everything in my body froze.

Avery Sinclair.

Everything in me froze, became as still as the calmest waters. Avery, the one woman I’d always loved. The girl I’d grown up around but left so many years ago it now seemed like a distant memory.

But she was here, standing right in front of me, looking like a woman instead of the teenager I’d known back in the day.

I saw the realization filter across her face, knew she was probably just as shocked as I was. Looking over her shoulder at the older woman, it was then that I realized who exactly she was. I hadn’t put two and two together the other day, didn’t even recognize the name at first. What with Avery having a different last name and always calling her grandmother Gigi, it hadn’t even occurred to me that the woman I’d saved was Avery’s grandmother.

I looked back at Avery, every part of me wanting to go to her, to make her mine.

“Oh, my God,” she whispered, lifting her hand and placing it over her mouth. She stood like that for long seconds, then dropped her hand to her side. “Jackson?” She chuckled, but it was one filled with nervousness. “Is that really you?” She shook her head slightly. “I almost didn’t recognize you. You…” She looked me up and down. “You look so different.” She stared into my face again. “But your eyes,” she whispered. “I’d remember them, recognize them anywhere, no matter how many years have passed.”

I didn’t answer right away, just looked my fill of her. She was all curves, the T-shirt she wore fitting her snugly and showing off the large mounds of her breasts and tapering down to her curvy waist. She had that hourglass shape going on to perfection.

“I can’t believe it’s really you,” she said again, taking a step closer to me.

“Yeah, I’m thinking the same thing,” I finally said. I stared into her chocolate brown eyes, ones I’d gotten lost in so many times when we were younger. We’d been friends, but not close enough that I had ever told her how I felt. Hell, I’d been too afraid of myself back then to admit my feelings. I still remembered the day I told her I was leaving, how she’d seemed genuinely sad by it, how I’d felt like my whole world was being ripped from me.

Our letters had tapered off over the years until there were no more. But I never stopped loving her, never stopped wanting her. She was mine. Avery always had been and always would be.

“You look different, Jackson,” she repeated and I saw the way her cheeks turned red.

My heart skipped a beat. Yeah, I knew I looked a hell of a lot different than when she’d last seen me.

Gone was the geeky, scrawny kid who got pushed around. In his place was a man towering at six foot three, heavily muscled from working out and building myself up, and contacts replacing the black-rimmed glasses I used to wear. Gone was the string bean who let asshole jocks like Frankie shoulder check him into lockers. How would she feel if she knew that I’d waited in every aspect of my life to be with her? How would Avery react if she knew that I’d saved myself for her … only her?

I was no longer that skinny kid scared of his own shadow. I was big and strong, a firefighter and back in town to let the only girl I had ever loved know that she was mine.
