Enzo by K. Webster Review

From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster, comes a new taboo romance standalone novel!

Jenna’s grown up in the system.
Forced to be tough, wary, and hard.

She’s only been able to count on herself.
Until Enzo.
He’s much older and responsible for looking after her.
What should be a job to him, evolves into much more.

Late night phone calls.
Lingering touches.
A forbidden fire that burns brighter each day.

Everything about him exudes strength.
His will to protect her is more than she could ever ask for.
Sadly, though, even heroes have their limitations.

But she doesn’t need a hero.
She just needs him.

Ah, sweet, sweet taboo love. K Webster DE-LIV-ERS in this ultra sweet and sexy novella. It’s jam packed with forbidden love, an age gap, a potential power struggle, and heartbreak, and as an added bonus, alpha yumminess.

I don’t have much experience with K. Webster. I’ve read only one or two books of hers, but I’ve read none from the Taboo Treat series. It’s a standalone novella series, so if you are into naughty novellas and, if Enzo is any indication, original, you’ll end up like me wanting to devour the rest.

Jenna’s live has been fraught with pain. Bounced around from foster home to foster home, she’s lived a tough live. Between bruises and potential abuse, she’s kept up her guard…

Until her social worker Enzo comes along.

Enzo knows his own pain. He was also part of the foster care system until he was one of the lucky ones that was adopted. Yearning to make a difference, he becomes a social worker. Instead of feeling useful, he’s become almost…. jaded. He becomes attached to the children he can’t always help.

But it doesn’t explain the way his feelings for the battered young woman grow. They morph, from innocent social worker to love.

Novellas are hard. How do you pack in love and raw emotion into something so short? How do you show true, unbridled love between two people that shouldn’t have seen each other in the way they did? How do you write a review without giving away all the gritty details?

Well one, you could fangirl because OH MY GAWD THIS WAS SO GOOD. Or, you can say, more “professionally” that there is so much happening in this short romance, that I couldn’t possibly explain it without giving away all the reasons this novella is so amazing.

Jenna is real. I’ve never been in foster care, but I felt connected to her. I’ve never been adopted, but I felt the struggle he did, trying to come to terms with the fact he couldn’t save every child the way he was saved. I’m not in love with a man twice my age, haven’t found someone fifteen years younger than me (ok, but that would make them ten so I REALLY HOPE NOT) attractive, and yet, their love was real to me.

If you’re looking for a heart-wrenching novella, one that will tear you up but still keep you smiling, this is the novella for you.

Review! Unraveling Love by KL Donn

She had it all figured out

Burned by love, Arden Graham thought she knew where her life was going. As an event planner at Rocky Shores Retirement home in Queens, she enjoyed her life. Bringing smiles to the faces of the elderly brought her joy. Giving them something to look forward to, gave her a sense of purpose.

Being stalked was never in the game plan. Neither was having two bodyguards who liked to boss her around. With Arden in and out of the tabloids because of her charity work for her twin brother’s company, Boston and Dare think they have her figured out.

Falling in love wasn’t the plan.

Boston Falco and Dare Waters have been best friends for more than half their lives. The decision to share one woman came as easily as when they joined the SEALs. Receiving a call from two men on their former SEAL team to protect their little sister, came as a shock. The woman herself was the biggest contradiction they’d ever encountered.

With the help of their former technical analyst, John ‘Tex’ Keegan, the hunt for Arden’s stalker is on. The clock is ticking, twists keep coming, and soon or later something’s gotta give. With no idea who’s on the other end of the revealing pictures and veiled threats, the only question left is; will they be able to unravel Arden’s heart and open her up to love again once all is said and done?

Unraveling Love is the first book in International Bestselling Author KL Donn’s new ménage series, Damaged Love, publishing in Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha World. This is a full length novel.

Unraveling Love? More like Unraveling Me... I mean HELLO. A full length menage romance? Normally, I’d skip these. I feel like I always tell myself I don’t like them, and then I read them and I’m like Oh hello honey. Especially if the author of said book is KL Donn. I think it’s no surprise to anyone that reads my reviews I’m obsessed with this woman. I found her in April 2018 and I’ve devoured everything she’s written since.

Unraveling Love is the story of Dare, Arden and Boston finding themselves a love worth of any fairy tale, amidst heartbreak, fear, and a crazy stalker. They find their love wrapped up in kitten ears and fighting through expectations society has for what love is, and what it should be. They find their forever in a story that is captivating, original, and will leave you on the edge of your seat.

If you enjoy any of these things, you’ll love this book:

  • Alpha males
  • True, heart stopping love
  • One of a kind story
  • Men that don’t know when to shut up
  • More twists and turns than a roller coaster
  • Head strong women that hide their true self behind quirky fashion and bratty behavior

Did I mention men who don’t know when to show up? Dare doesn’t necessarily know how to deal with Arden, or his feelings for her. Arden, to the rest of the world, is a spoiled brat, only worried about smiling, partying, and other things rich people are worried about. Add in some extra protective family, and she’s not really allowed to learn about the danger surrounding her.

Hence, Dare and Boston. While Dare isn’t immediately sure what the troublesome bombshell means to him, Boston is clear from the moment he sees her image. Lust at first sight, mixed with hopefulness at the idea a woman out there would be willing to accept their life style and two men, makes for an ex SEAL badass who knows he has two missions: save and get the girl.

Arden may be spoiled, but she has a heart big enough for two men, and ambitions that reach beyond her world as a princess. Though her men treat her like one, they don’t ignore the fact that she’s smart, young, beautiful, and takes danger head on… though they wish she wouldn’t.

One of my favorite things about the insta-love stories that are full-length, is that it’s more. It gives the love that seems unrealistic a chance to flourish. You see the threesome figure each other out, while they fall deeper everyday. They have each other to lean on, to talk to when they’re nervous about what the future holds.

KL Donn weaves a tale that leaves you panting and wanting more. She effortlessly (it seems) creates a world I want to be a part of. She leaves my heart yearning for that all consuming love that Dare, Arden and Boston have. She leaves me wishing I was a bit more adventurous, though not as much as Arden is.

So thank you, KL, for bringing be another novel I can’t get out of my head or my heart. Thank you for feeding my addiction to big, burly, alpha men. Thank you for bringing humor in the right places, while still leaving me anticipating the next turn you bring. And please, please, please, bring me more.

COVER REVEAL for FAUX PAS by Natasha Madison

Five days in Paris sounded like a great idea for three friends. Especially when amazing wine was in play.

It didn’t matter that our rented “apartment” only had one bed, and barely enough space to breathe, we were in Paris and our motto was c’est la vie.

Nothing would faze us, not even the rude waiter at the first restaurant we went to, or the insanely hot manger who was insulted when a bottle of wine was returned.

Nothing could bring me down or knock me off my path to the best vacation of my life.

Alex

I had six days in Paris and then I’d go back to my wine vineyard. It was smooth sailing, until three “americans” came into the restaurant and returned my newest full bodied, savory creation.

I ignored her until she stormed out of the restaurant looking for a taxi at one in the morning. I couldn’t leave her wandering around the streets of Paris, could I?

I’d give her a ride, make sure she was safe, and my duty would be done. Except, was it?

Something about her pulled me.

This could be a vacation fling. After all, there is no real reason for her to know my interesting secret.

I’m France’s most eligible bachelor.

This faux pair is almost a faux pas…

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…

Accidentally Yours by Mallory Funk Review

arcblurbaccidentallyyoursAll I wanted was a baby.
Simple, right?
The plan was to get sperm and have a baby.
Sometimes plans don’t always go how we expect them to.
I didn’t know one phone call could change my life,
I didn’t know the deep voice on the other end would be the man I would end up with for the rest of my life.
One mix up at the sperm bank and I am now stuck with a man who I have never met before.
Someone who I have never had sex with, but I’m carrying his baby.
Sometimes accidents happen for a reason, right?

aboutheauthormalloryfunkI have always loved writing. It wasn’t until recently I decided to put my stories into words. I have the support of my husband and family to follow through with my own book. I always loved to share my work with people and now I’m glad I can share it with more than my family and friends.

I am married with two children under the age of four. I spent my days writing, reading and with my kids. I have always loved to write since I was a little girl. It wasn’t until I started reading all the time that I decided to put my words to ‘paper’ so to speak.

I am the youngest of three girls but my family extends beyond that!

reviewaccidentally

Normally when I see a title with “Accidentally” in it, I question how “accidental” it is. How do you accidentally fall in love? End up accidentally married? Even if you got drunk in Vegas it wasn’t an accident. It was just the alcohol talking. Name your book “Drunk in Love” or something. However, this blurb intrigued me like no other. So I read it, and I loved it.

Ella lost the love of her life right after she found out they were pregnant after going to get fertility treatments. But it turns out there was a mix-up at the sperm bank, so she didn’t receive some anonymous donor’s, she received Damien’s. Even though she could have moved on with her life, and ignored the phone call that sent her life into another tailspin, but she didn’t. Being the woman she is, she wants to make sure she gives Damien a chance to know his son or daughter. Along the way she finds more than just love.

Damien, who did not donate his sperm, is a member of the Vicious Snakes MC. One look at Ella, and he wants to know everything he can about her. Her body draws him in, but it’s her heart that keeps him. He loses interest in the club girls, in any of the girls, and focuses on his baby mama. (So yes, this novel is safe.)

One of the things I loved about this book is purely Damien. He is 100% invested in Ella from the start. He can be a grade-A jerk to everyone around him, but behind closed doors he shows Ella who he truly is. He’s her protector, her lover, and most of all: her friend. There’s so much drama in this book, and a lot of it centers around Ella, but never once does he doubt her or stray from her.

I gave it four stars instead of 5 because there was a heavy emphasis on the er, position, the club “girls” had in the MC. It was just a little much for me. At first it was ok, but as the story went on it just became too much. However, the story is still really good. So you should definitely be reading this book. It’s free on Kindle Unlimited!

Stoking Her Fire by Mila Crawford Review!

newarcbannerblurbstokingherfireI’d always loved her, even if she never knew.

Growing up as Avery’s friend was the hardest part, especially when all I wanted to do was claim her as mine. But I was that awkward, geeky kid with the black-rimmed glasses, a social outcast.

Time and distance had separated us, but I never forgot about her. My love for Avery never lessened. It only grew.

Now back in town, working as a firefighter, I doubt she’ll recognize me. I’m big, strong, and confident, so different from who I was all those years ago. Seeing her again after so long has me realizing too much time has passed. I know what has to be done.

I need to let Avery know she’s mine and that nothing and no one will stop me from claiming her.

Warning: This is a friends-to-lovers, double virgin safe romance that also has that spark of filth thrown in. Yes, you read that right … double virgins. No need to wear protection for this one because these two know exactly what they want, and that’s each other.

Have you been reading a lot of dark romance lately? Lots of blood and gore? Maybe read some super angsty books? Needing something lighter to get you through? A super safe, super sweet, super steamy novella to get you through to the next book that destroys you? Is it not your day, week, month or even your year? Try downloading Stoking Her Fire (Free on Kindle Unlimited!). It is super sweet, with some double virgin action, that will keep you smiling from start to finish.

Stoking Her Fire is my favorite kind of second chance romance. The one where both know they fell in love a long time ago, and instead of trying to find someone to replace their love, they hold out until they can see them again. So sweet you’re going to need a trip to the dentist after, but so incredibly worth it. This short little novella maybe wasn’t super realistic, but it was just the kind of novella I love to read.

There was minimal drama, but there was a sassy grandma in it.

Jackson and Avery met in high school, when Jackson was the socially awkward nerd and Avery was the social butterfly. Avery was overcompensating for a rough childhood by being everyone’s best friend, but her connection to Jackson ran deeper than that, even as a child. Jackson knew he loved Avery since he was the nerdy teen, but moved away before he had the guts to confront her with his feelings.

Six years later and Jackson is seriously buffed up and a firefighter. He’s also back in town to claim the one woman who has ever held his heart. He and Avery meet by chance, but move very quickly. Distance definitely made the heart grow fonder in this novella, and neither want to waste anymore time.

I’ve read a couple of Mila’s books now, most were before I started reviewing and I was a punk who read books and never reviewed. So I knew when I got this book that I was going to love it. Mila always gives you short and sweet, but also naughty. Her books are so worth the one-click, or the free download if you’re on KU (BONUS: She’s not a bookstuffer so yay!)

#BookStuffing and why it matters.

If you’ve been on twitter in Romancelandia recently, you may have noticed some interesting hashtags.

#cockygate
#tiffanygate
#bookstuffing
#GETLOUD

Some of them have been talked about to the max, (#cockygate, #BYEFaleena), and some are just starting to gain momentum (#tiffanygate). If you haven’t heard of any of these yet, I suggest falling down the rabbit hole on twitter to find out more. This post isn’t going to explain #cockygate or #tiffanygate (though Tiffanygate and BookStuffing have something in common).

As a reader, I came across Kindle Unlimited about a year ago. It was as I was discovering more indie authors, and wanted to find more. So I got my subscription, and started devouring books that participated in the program. I found authors like Alexa Riley, Mia Madison, Madison Faye, Ella Summers and so many more. I started reading novellas and full length novels, reading almost 200 books in a year. My reading was up, and I was a happy camper.

What was even better, was some of the books I was reading including extra books.

This time last year, I didn’t review books. I couldn’t have told you the name of a single indie author. I wasn’t involved in a single book club on Facebook or anywhere else. I read the mainstream paperbacks you could find in the library, the grocery store, Wal-Mart, anywhere I could get my hands on one. I didn’t use my kindle or nook, and I didn’t use the app on my phone. I broke my back carrying around paperbacks, but I loved holding the book in my hand and thought nothing could compare.

Then, I found KU, and my whole life changed. And I’m not exaggerating. I went from never leaving reviews, to becoming a book blogger. I went from only reading paperbacks, to reading mainly on my kindle. I went from buying books at the store, to trying to support my favorite authors by buying their paperbacks online. I went from having only friends I met in the real world, to having friends ALL over the world, and I met them in one of the thirty book clubs I am now in.

The more I got to know the indie world, the more problems I saw within the KU program. One of the biggest problems is that the ‘Zon is trying to crack down on the “authors” that break their Terms of Service, which ends up hurting legitimate authors trying to make a living doing what they love.

You may have read my little biography here and thought “but Cait, what is book stuffing?!” I wanted to start with my journey, to show you that as a “sophisticated” reader, who has read both mainstream and indie books, who has read the stuffed books and the novellas, that I was duped. I thought I was getting extra books, when I read certain titles on KU. In reality: I was hurting the authors I’ve come to love and support with my whole heart.

Now, what is book stuffing? It’s pretty much what it sounds like: an author stuffs books into another book. Extra Content, according to Amazon’s KU Terms of Service (TOS), states that it cannot be more than 10% of the book. Why? Because authors in the KU program get paid for each page read. There is a big bank that is used to pay these authors, and it is set at a fixed rate. So for every page a borrower reads, the author gets paid. If an author “stuffs” more than one book into their book, they get paid for more pages read. Some of these authors encourage their readers to do the “KU Flip”, which is basically flipping through the extra content in a book, at a slow rate, until you reach the end, so the author can get more money.

*Picture from  on Twitter*

With more pages read, the more money you get, but you also get to be one of Amazon’s Top Seller’s program, which means more advertising. So while there are authors that have full time jobs aside from writing, that are happy with the sales they earned, there are authors out there who are not valuing their readers, and asking them to skip through content they may or may not have already read, or may or may not be interested in, so they can make more money. It’s not about the book they’ve written, it’s about the money they could get.

Is book stuffing a big deal? Are that many authors doing it?

bookstuffer.jpg
*Images as of June 5, 2018*

Out of the Top 6 in “Sports Romance” only ONE of these authors does not book stuff. (Ilsa Madden-Mills, you GO GLEN COCO!) It’s not just in Sports Romance, though, and it’s not just stuffing more books into one book. Some books mess up the spacing to spread out the pages. As a reader, I found this SO ANNOYING, but didn’t realize I was helping authors scam other authors.

bookstuffing1.jpg
*Image grabbed from Biker’s Virgin on June 5th, 2018*

As a reader, I had no idea this was an issue. With #cockygate coming to light, and indie and mainstream authors banded together to fight this, the authors who were afraid of getting in trouble with Amazon decided to say WHATEVER and bring to light the book stuffing issue. As a reader, we ALL have to help report the issue, because authors like Anna B Doe, BJ Bentley, Mia Madison, Gillian Jones, and so many more (those are just a few I thought of off the top of my head), are getting screwed by authors like Cassandra Dee, Tia Siren, Claire Adams, and Chance Carter (who I will NOT rant about right now).

So how can you tell if a book has been stuffed? Check the Table of Contents in the previews.

Versus legitimate books:

*All screen grabs were made on June 5th, 2018, and taken from Amazon.com*

As a reader, it is important to make sure you report the books that are guilty of this. Not just because they violate the TOS, but because when they stuff their books, other authors lose out. Other authors take the pay cuts, and suffer from this. The reader doesn’t, the author stuffing sure as heck doesn’t, but the author you love? The one you want to see grow and tell everyone about? They suffer. So how do you report these authors? Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the Feedback section:

Here’s the thing: there are much better articles on this than mine. I know that. You can find thorough articles, eloquently written, anywhere on Twitter. Heck, some of the Twitter threads are better than this. However, the community needs to speak up. That means complaining about this everywhere, speaking about it on every platform, and reporting the books that are scamming the readers and authors! If you read this article on bookstuffing from a reader’s perspective, thanks! Now go out and share what you learned! Expose the books violating the TOS. Do something about it.

Looking for a sexy, sweet, alpha to get you through to your next dark read? Something that can make you smile and shiver at the same time? Well look no further! Aria Cole and Mila Crawford have teamed up to DELIVER this modern day fairy tale. It was short, naughty, and everything you’d expect when it comes to these two and their novels. The alpha was OTT (over-the-top) while still respectful of his woman. The heroine was sweet with a backbone, not afraid to stand up for what she believes in.

I love a good modern day fairy tale. Seeing how an author (or authors) comes up with a way to spin the classic into a modern romance, is always entertaining. But this one was so amazingly well written, with enough naughty scenes to make you need a fan near you when you’re reading, that I devoured it in an hour. It was so much fun to read (with MULTIPLE epilogues, YES) that I kept turning the page, wanting to know what happens next!

But beware, if you don’t like age gaps, you probably won’t like this. Hunter is double Snow’s age, so around 40. To me, it wasn’t a big deal. I love a good age gap. Hunter met Snow when she was eighteen though, not younger, so she’s totally legal when he sees her and knows she’s his. He doesn’t make a move for two years though.

This was an amazing, awesome, sweet novella! I love both these authors, having read both of them before I started reviewing books. I was not dissapointed with this book either! In fact, if I wasn’t so busy and behind on my reviews, I would probably do a few re-reads of their books. They are that good! So go grab your copy today!

Marie Savage is a new to me author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to this book. The blurb and the title had me interested, since it seemed so different from what I am used to reading. And it was very different from what I’ve ever read. It was original, with the characters and the plot, but the truck driver cowboy thing was also so different, it was so much fun to read!

Luke is the type of guy that’s used to traveling the country in his truck, while stopping around the country finding different women in different spots. He is firmly planted in the bachelor zone, with no plans on ever changing it. In fact, he enjoys the player life. He enjoys travelling around, meeting new women, and not settling down. When he meets Aimee Jo, she feels different, the type of different that would normally make him stay far, far away from a woman.

Aimee Jo has had a string of disasters follow her for the last few months. Between ex boyfriends, death, and a stolen car, Aimee is more than just down on her luck. She is moving from Georgia to California on her own in order to follow her dreams, all alone, and she’s alone for the first time in her life. She is naturally positive, and believes in God, but God can’t help you come up with another $3000.

Along the way Luke and Aimee Jo learn more about themselves and about each other. Spending days on end with only a truck and the interstate to keep you company, you get to know someone very well. Sometimes in the biblical sense, sometimes you get to know someone’s mind. And getting to know someone’s mind is a dangerous thing. This story is as old as time.
Girl meets boy.
They fall in love and, after their fair share of highs and lows, they finally get their happily ever after …
Only in my story, happily ever after seems to be so far away.
William and I are together, but we’re apart.
It’s hard and painful, but we make do because not being together is harder than having a long-distance relationship.
Every turn is more painful than the last, and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it.
If we are ready for it.
William
For more than a year, I waited.
For more than a year, I was a good boy playing by the rules.
For more than a year, I’ve been waiting for the right moment.
I gave her time she needed.
The time we needed.
I watched her go in and out of my life, time and time again.
But I’m done playing this game.
I can see the pain in her eyes. The pain that matches my own.
It’s time to end this and claim what’s mine.
Because I’m hers, and she’s mine and we … We’re forever.

Until by Anna B. Doe Review

newarcbannerblurbuntilI was betrayed by those I loved. Those I believed in. It was the first and the last time I let myself love someone outside my family.
Love makes you weak. It makes you wish for things you can’t have. It makes you vulnerable, and I swore I would never again go down that path.
Until I met him—Jack Daniel Shelton.

She left me. She ruined me. The day I found her gone, I promised myself I’d never let anyone have that kind of hold on me again. Especially not a woman. Now she’s back.
No matter how much time has passed, no matter what I tell myself, her hold on me is still strong. But she holds a secret. A secret I can’t escape from, but a secret I can’t turn my back on, either. A secret that could ruin everything I’ve worked for.
And then, there is her—Sienna Roberts. Everything was just as it was supposed to be, until she walked into my life.

Can two souls that lost faith in love find it in one another?

So Lost & Found was a slow burn, but Until was most decidedly not. While I think Until could be read as a standalone, I think it’s best you read the series starting with Lost & Found. The two stories happen at the same time, so it was probably really hard to write, but made for a really awesome book.

Sierra and J.D. fall into bed together pretty quickly (no shame!) but it takes them awhile to find the love they both needed. And there is so much drama, so much drama, my emotions were all over the place! I binge read this, read a special epilogue in Anna’s reading group that had me cracking up, then jumped straight into Forever, and died all over again. And Anna knows she’s evil, she enjoys it, and although I may say I hate her for being evil, I really love her. Until made me mad, sad, laugh, cry. It had me wanting to shake Sierra, though not as hard as I wanted to shake Anabel, and I wanted to kick J.D. sometimes. I was so heavily involved in these characters, and it was all because Anna is amazing at getting you on a roller coaster you never want to get off of.

Sierra is messed up from a past relationship. So messed up, she wants nothing to do with love. She firmly believes she doesn’t want love and marriage and all that jazz. She keeps everyone out, except her mother and sister, and it is hard to find people in her world that deserve to get past that wall. When she meets Anabel, her sister’s au pair, her walls slowly start to crumble. When she meets J.D. initially, he doesn’t get past those walls. But over time, J.D. crumbles every wall she kept up, leaving her afraid of the possibilities.

J.D. has his own issues with drama and his own messed up past. He feels the pull to Sierra immediately, but he isn’t looking for a relationship, so when she keeps her walls firmly in place, he lets her. He doesn’t like it, but he lets it happen. The more Sierra and J.D. are forced to meet each other, the more he crumbles those walls, and lets his own fall. But there’s more going on then just two people trying to heal each other when they don’t want to be healed. In Lost & Found you find out J.D. has a sister, one he didn’t know about. They don’t share the same dad, so he basically becomes a full time father over night. But reading these two interact, while J.D. tries to find his way with Sierra and through life, was absolutely amazing.

I loved every single page of this book, even the parts I wanted to shake Sierra. ESPECIALLY when I wanted to yell at J.D. Anna made these characters real for me. And I need more, SO MUCH MORE. Then again, I always need more so it’s not a surprise. Anna, I love you even when you’re evil and tease me with new projects. And I love this series, so so much.
