You can Run…

I received a copy of Run, Hide, Break & Chase, in exchange for honest reviews. Here’s my first one…

blurb

runjennifervesterOliva wouldn’t say she was paranoid. Maybe she read a few too many books on true crime, but it was all in the name of solid research. She was comfortable and cautious after a tragic event in her past. It worked for her.

At least it had, until she met Aiden Latimer. He was tall, muscular and did that eyebrow arch thing like a pro. The billionaire spotted her, and her life has been anything but comfortable ever since.

He was bossy and annoying. He even has a problem with her cussing. He’s done his own research on her and she’s convinced he even bugged her house.

She wasn’t prepared for her attraction to him, much less his ardent attention. Their worlds seemed so far apart that she was ready to end it on day one.

But things never go quite like you plan with an alpha male type.

Now, she’s being bossed around by Aiden, trying not to get into trouble with her best friend and dealing with a psycho, stalker ex-boyfriend!

The question is, when things finally do hit the fan, will she face her fears or run?

**Full-length standalone romance. 67,000+ words. No cheating, or cliffhangers with a Happily Ever After!

Have you had a good laugh lately? If not, then check out this book. Seriously. Olivia’s mind had me cracking up the whole time. I had a first hand experience with her brain and I wish I could have some more.

Run is the story of Olivia running from Aiden Latimer. Literally. She ran from him at the bar, the car, after their kiss. Aiden is your typical alpha with a little extra “stop cussing before I punish you”. I’m not sure if it’s insta-love between the two, but it’s instant awareness, instant attraction, and instant craziness. There’s danger, laughs, sarcasm, and a lot of wondering if the stranger kidnapping her is a serial killer. Oh and a lot of stalking. But if you’re gonna die, might as well do it in a Bentley or a Benz right?

Olivia has legitimate reason to be wary of the super-bossy Aiden. Her ex-boyfriend was not kind to her. And by not kind I mean the absolute worst. Olivia’s roommate, Julia, and her mother conspire against Liv and trying to push away a potential date (though if this was real life I would probably be screaming at her to RUN THE OTHER WAY. but it’s not real life so I can yell at her to stop running away from him.)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was full length- but it was a quick easy read. There was danger and excitement, as well as super steamy scenes, had some hilarious text messages, and guys that were like family to each other. It was definitely 4 great stars.

My issue with it was my issue with basically all heroines that have super hot, super rich boyfriends with awesome security: why do you try to ditch them?!? I’ve never needed security (knock on wood) and I definitely like to feel safe, so I don’t know why, when you get text messages from legit stalkers that you know are trying to hurt you, that you DITCH THE SECURITY TEAM. I understand independence and crap, but seriously stop running from the guys trained to take care of ya.

That’s my pet peeve though… maybe not everyone’s…

This was my first Jennifer read and I can’t wait to read the other three in the Lakefield series… Go add this to your TBR! Like… now! And do you have Kindle Unlimited? Well it’s free on KU!

I think I have a toothache and need to go to the dentist. This book was so freaking sweet it’s not even funny. This wasn’t my first Jenika Snow book, so I was expecting something super sweet. But honestly, this was so much better!!!

Cora and Xavier have known each other for a long time, and Xavier was Cora’s protector. When Xavier went into the military service, Cora was hurt but she didn’t show it, knowing Xavier needed to do this. For eight long years, both Cora and Xavier have held their feelings inside, not wanting to ruin their friendship, not sure how to express what they’re feeling. But when it’s time for Xavier to come home from the service, all bets are off.

If there is one thing you can expect from Jenika, it’s short, sweet, and sappy. Cora and Xavier’s story doesn’t include drama, just some uber steamy love scenes, and some men not afraid to show their emotions. Not having drama does not mean their love is less intense. They just both know what they want, and when they decide it’s time to make it happen, nothing can stop them. One of the things I love about Jenika, and this romance, was they met young but knew what they wanted, and didn’t try to go for something else. They both saved their virginity for each other. (Wait, can you make virginity plural? Virginities?)

I also love the inclusion of the Mayson family. It was simple and sweet, just like everything else in this book. They welcomed Xavier back with open arms, and it was so nice to get that snippet.

And double epilogues! *swoon* I’m of the firm belief that the more epilogues, the better. Reading this Happily Ever Alpha crossover is like getting 16 epilogues while falling in love with 16 new couples. What’s better than that honestly. Ok, bottom line? GO READ THIS! (On April 3rd, and yes I have a countdown set up on my phone. Just 9 days left!)

Take me out of the Limelight, please.

blurb

limelightcover“Alyson’s writing is gorgeous: passionately poetic; brutally, yet delicately, descriptive; strikingly raw; and insanely sexy. I’m in awe of, and in love with, Limelight…and Alyson.” – Kim Holden, Author of Bright Side

A standalone NSB novel.

I’m unpredictable.
A genius, an underachiever.
I’m the song, the voice, the passion, the pain.
I am failure.
I do music because it’s what I am, but sometimes that’s not enough.

A slave to my nature, I wait for it to show mercy and drop a gift in my lap.
Because the music chose me.
I’m its victim not its gift.

She destroyed my career.
Ruined my life.
Pushed me from the shadows and exposed my lies.
She’s the fire that destroys lesser men,
and now her flames are aimed at me.
She loves to watch me burn,
but the part we never saw coming?

Sometimes it takes a fire to ignite a spark
And slay the darkness.author

I’m a writer, musician, and cat lover. I’m also obsessed with alternative music. Seriously, it’s a real problem.

I write what needs to come out, whether it’s pain, tears, or laughter. I write people and relationships, about the beauty and horror of what we do to ourselves and each other. I write Love. Vengeance. Compassion. Cruelty. Trust. Betrayal. Forgiveness. Darkness, and the incredible way humans destroy and heal each other.

I like to eradicate barriers, refusing to be confined by the laws of physics or limitations of reality. I will befriend a vast population of possibilities and introduce them in ways that might surprise you.

I’m going to preface this by saying this is not my kind of book. I love a good angsty romance, ones with pain and pleasure, ones that make you cry from laughter, ones that make you think you may be a bit twisted because you enjoyed it so much: those are my romances. This book was an emotional upheaval that took every fiber of my being to finish reading. The emotional, physical, and verbal abuse that Jesse Everett suffered that led him down a path of self-destruction to function was too much for me to handle. I had a ball of anxiety in my throat every line that I read.

That being said, this book was so beautifully written. When I started reading, and realized how self-destructive Jesse was, I wanted to cry. I hate drugs, hate reading books with them in it, but I kept reading Jesse’s struggle. I was sucked in to the Jesse whirlpool, cheering Mila for sticking up for herself and for Jesse, cursing Parker because he didn’t understand, crying for Jesse every time he interacted with Jonas.

The songs Jesse wrote, the songs in his head, make my heart ache. I wish I could hear the songs being performed, but I don’t think they’d ever live up to what’s in my head. I do not have a musical bone in my body, but in my head, the emotions in the song? No one could do that justice.

Seriously, the only reason this has four stars and not five are because of totally personal reasons. I didn’t enjoy reading this novel, but I don’t think you’re supposed to. I devoured it, even as I begged myself to stop reading it. I was on an emotional roller coaster with Jesse, and neither one of us could get off. Alyson Santos did an amazing job writing this novel, and this was the first one I’ve written of her, but I don’t think my heart can take any more of her books (at this moment. give me a month I will probably try again).

I am an emotional wreck after reading this, so I will be reading the funniest, most light hearted novel I can find. Something to make me smile. I so need it right now.

EXTREME emotional warning and every trigger warning I could throw out there. If your heart can take this book, read it. I’m not as strong as Jesse, Alyson or any of the characters in the book.

This was my first dive into the Happily Ever Alpha world and it started with a huge boom. Seriously, S. Van Horne fit her characters into the Mayson world almost seamlessly, while staying true to her writing style. Horne was able to keep her voice in the story, while grabbing the essence of the characters from Aurora Rose Reynolds’ imagination. We got to see Conti and Crystal finally get together and we got to see snippets into Kai and Myla’s HEA (plus some bonus scenes with some other characters sneaking in! But I won’t ruin that for ya.) It was truly amazing.

Crystal and Conti are from S. Van Horne’s More series and have been running around each other for a year. A year! They met each other at a bar, had some wild, crazy, intense, monkey sex, and then Crystal snuck out avoiding Conti. Because Crystal didn’t want to clear up the misunderstanding, she made it worse throwing his words back in his face. She didn’t know what those words meant though.

So fast forward a year, to Crystal moving to Hawaii to feel closer to her parents, and Conti going on vacation with his autistic sister (and what’s hotter than a man who takes responsibility without hesitation for his siblings?!) and misunderstandings are cleared up. And I don’t think I’ve heard better advice, “C, pride is like a glass plate.” (I’ll let you read to find out the rest of that statement.)

Not only do Crystal, Conti, and Mads fit in perfectly in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Mayson world, but they fit perfectly with each other. They were meant for each other. This is the story of insta-love, with the characters not quite believing in insta-love. They know they’ve wasted enough time not being together, but they fight to make sure they are in love.

S. Van Horne had me impatiently reading this book (which means I’ll have to do a re-read because I’m sure I missed something). From the prologue, to the last line, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I smiled, I laughed, I bit my lip, I bit my nails in anticipation. There aren’t many tense scenes, and it’s mostly a story about the love the two share, so it makes sense that the tense scenes weren’t too intense. I just wish it lasted a little bit longer. It seemed rushed.

But talk about epilogues, because these were seriously my favorite. I had tears (of joy) in my eyes at the end. And multiple epilogues! What’s better than multiples?! Nothing I tell you! Nothing!

So amazing job, and four stars for you Ms. Horne! I cannot WAIT to read the others in the series.
