I’m not crying, you’re crying… Fine, I’m crying. K.L. Donn’s contribution to the Happily Ever Alpha world was absolutely fabulous. Marina Parks and Arsen Daniels are so perfect for each other it’s crazy. K.L., in her style, effortlessly (it seems) tells the tale of a damaged woman, and a detective who wants her to see she’s perfect.

This wasn’t my first K.L. Donn book; in fact, since I read her first Hogan Brother’s book I’ve been trying to get my hands on everything she’s written. So I can say this with full authority- K.L. Donn keeps the essence of the Mayson brothers, while keeping true to her own characters. This is the first in a new series for Ms. Donn, and I can’t wait to read about Kol and Ember. (By the way, these names? Love ’em!)

Marina Parks is a twenty-two year old kindergarten teacher who suffered an accident the year before, and has tried to move on. The scars are all internal. And while she loves teaching her children, she’s afraid they’re the only kids she’s going to have…

Detective Arsen Daniels is thirty-five looking for love. My favorite quote from him is “My name is Arsen Daniels, and apparently, I’m a fucking sappy little girl.” Usually, that would piss me off (hello feminism!) but honestly, he does sound like a girl looking for love in the beginning. And then what happens? He meets Marina Parks and, boom, his life is changed.

We get to see these two fall in love, with a little help from Sophie and Nico (*sigh*) and it is magical. And the pain that Marina goes through to try to open herself up makes me want to hug her tiny self. I almost feel like Arsen, and want to put her in a bubble so no one can hurt her. But she is strong, so strong, and seriously I wanna be like her when I grow up… even though she’s younger than me.

Or maybe Arsen can put me in a bubble, or in his truck so I can sit next to him.

If you had told me before reading this, I would be ok with the “Good Girl” thing I would laugh. Loudly. I hate that phrase, because my immediate response is “what am I, a dog?” But for some reason, I didn’t feel that way about Arsen calling Marina his good girl. I loved it. It wasn’t demeaning in anyway, shape or form. And Marina needed those words.

But if my man calls me good girl I will probably still stab him with a spoon or something. ANYWAYS…

My favorite part? MY FAVORITE PART WAS THE DOUBLE EPILOGUE. Ok, I’ll stop yelling. But seriously, I love double epilogues. And these were so freaking emotional that I’m still crying. Their love story was so sweet, and emotional, and I love Marina’s mom so much… I just had to sneak that in there. Her mom’s great. Can she adopt me?

Anyway, there are 5 days left until the big unveil of the Happily Ever Alpha world. I’ve got my countdown set, do you?

Until Avery, Brynne Asher Review

Dreams.

I never had one. Never even knew what a dream was until a certain unassuming Carpino waltzed into my life. That day my world tilted.

It became unhinged.

I might not have been a dreamer, but she was.

She wrote the words missing from my life. Her notes ignited my heart. Her flame lit up my darkness.

Her dreams became mine and I’d move heaven and earth to give them life.

Especially when my past surfaced and threatened to kill every dream we had.
Until Avery, I had nothing.

But I’m Link Forester. I’d fight for her, for us, because right now, I have everything to lose.

Warning: The author will have a dramatic fit—Scarlett O’Hara style—if anyone under the age of eighteen touches this book.

YES! THE CARPINOS ARE BACK! My kryptonite is families like the Carpinos/Maysons. Big, loud, in your face, gossipy families that have your back no matter what. Brynne does an amazing job of mixing these two families together. I’d like an epilogue with the Carpinos and Maysons meeting each other for some fantasy football. That would be a hoot.

If Gus, from Until Nox, was my spirit animal, Avery is me. The good girl who doesn’t break the rules, goes to class, and definitely doesn’t use fake ID’s to get into bars. Link is the guy that owns the bar that Avery is trying to get into.
Illegally.
Avery is going to Vanderbuilt, the college near Nashville, and the Carpinos up Nebraska are not happy about that. They are supportive in the Carpino way, which means guilt trips to come visit soon, and calls to make sure she’s coming home for the holidays. Link just moved back from Vegas, and is happy to be home with his family, the Maysons. He’s not a Mayson by blood, but they like to adopt people they love.

God I love Link and Avery. And Brynne did such an amazing job with this book, it’s 5 stars. No, wait it’s 4 because it’s not long enough. I can make it 5 when Brynne writes more…

ANYWAY, I fell in love with Avery the first rambling page of her trying to use a fake to get into a bar just to hear one song. And I loved Link for bouncing her. I really loved him trying to ignore what he felt for her, but in the end he just didn’t care. Not even when Nico threatened his balls repeatedly. And Nico usually makes good on his promises. Brynne wrote this novella in her style, while managing to capture the essence of Mayson crew and beyond. She didn’t show snippets of the Mayson’s; she threw a freaking party…

…and we all remember the Star Wars Party… (if you don’t know what that means, then shame on you and go read Athica Lane right now!)

Until You, Samantha Lind

arc review 1blurbuntilyouCameron Burgress was ready for a new start.

New city, new job, and maybe one day, a new love. She just didn’t realize how quickly that could all happen until she walked into a tattoo shop, finally ready to get the ink she’d wanted since her fiancé died, nearly four years ago.

Ethan O’Neill had everything. Until one day, he didn’t.

After an off-ice injury stripped him of his hockey career, he started over in life, pursuing his other passion—tattoos. He’d never been the kind of guy to want to settle down, but that all changed one day, when a knock-out beauty strolled into his shop and into his life.

An instant attraction and a little bit of ink is the perfect mix for two people ready for change.

This was my first Samantha Lind book, and boy was it a good one. If you’re looking for drama, move right on along. The absence of drama didn’t lesson the intensity of this novel though. Ethan and Cam were SO cute.

Ethan is a tattoo artist (*swoon*) who does Cash Mayson’s tattoos, and Cam is Lilly’s best friend from college. After losing the love of her life, Ben, three years ago, Cam decides it’s time to move forward with her life. She decides to move from Philadelphia to Tennessee to be closer to Lilly. After moving, she decides she wants a tattoo, which is where she meets Ethan.

Ethan designs the perfect tattoo for Cam, and they decide to start dating. Ethan isn’t the typical Alpha caveman, but I think that’s perfect for Cam. He’s so understanding about Ben, he supports Cam’s mourning in the best ways possible. He knows Cam isn’t moving on from Ben, but she’s moving forward.

Well, maybe Ethan is the typical OTT Alpha, but there weren’t many examples of it in the short novel. This book was about two people finding love with each other in the world Aurora Rose Reynolds created. It was about Cam finding her love for the second time, and Ethan fully embracing his Boom!

I would have loved to have seen more of the growly man in Ethan, but I think that the guy Samantha created is perfect for Cam. And that’s good enough for me. Sometimes, though, I felt the parts where they were explaining their love fell a little flat. There was no emotional punch when there should have been. But there were no examples of highs and lows, it was like being stuck on the up part in the beginning of the roller coaster. I kept waiting for the high part to come, or to go down the other side, but I never did.

But, overall, I enjoyed reading Until You, and I really loved the part where they said the title of the book in it. It’s like watching a movie and hearing them say the title. I definitely snickered.

Amazing job Samantha, and I can’t wait to read more of your work!

S. Van Horne, I need MORE!

arc review 1

blurb

untilmoreAt twenty-two, Crystal Kopas didn’t know where her life was heading. Ghost writing romance stories for well-known authors isn’t an easy thing to do, especially when she couldn’t forget the one man who rocked her world. After moving to Hawaii, she thought she was finally getting her life on track. That is—until he showed up.

At twenty-five, Detective Vigo Conti decided it was time to take a vacation with his baby sister. After a grueling case that took everything out of him, he packed up Maddison and hit the beaches of Hawaii, praying to get his mind off the one woman who seemed to steal his heart when she disappeared after only one night together. He was finally starting to relax and enjoy his time with Mads uninterrupted. That is—until he sees her.

Without warning, disaster strikes and Conti vows he will do everything to get his family back. Because sometimes finding that special BOOM makes one cross lines never imagined.

Will Conti be able to save his family before it is too late?

This was my first dive into the Happily Ever Alpha world and it started with a huge boom. Seriously, S. Van Horne fit her characters into the Mayson world almost seamlessly, while staying true to her writing style. Horne was able to keep her voice in the story, while grabbing the essence of the characters from Aurora Rose Reynolds’ imagination. We got to see Conti and Crystal finally get together and we got to see snippets into Kai and Myla’s HEA (plus some bonus scenes with some other characters sneaking in! But I won’t ruin that for ya.) It was truly amazing.

Crystal and Conti are from S. Van Horne’s More series and have been running around each other for a year. A year! They met each other at a bar, had some wild, crazy, intense, monkey sex, and then Crystal snuck out avoiding Conti. Because Crystal didn’t want to clear up the misunderstanding, she made it worse throwing his words back in his face. She didn’t know what those words meant though.

So fast forward a year, to Crystal moving to Hawaii to feel closer to her parents, and Conti going on vacation with his autistic sister (and what’s hotter than a man who takes responsibility without hesitation for his siblings?!) and misunderstandings are cleared up. And I don’t think I’ve heard better advice, “C, pride is like a glass plate.” (I’ll let you read to find out the rest of that statement.)

Not only do Crystal, Conti, and Mads fit in perfectly in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Mayson world, but they fit perfectly with each other. They were meant for each other. This is the story of insta-love, with the characters not quite believing in insta-love. They know they’ve wasted enough time not being together, but they fight to make sure they are in love.

S. Van Horne had me impatiently reading this book (which means I’ll have to do a re-read because I’m sure I missed something). From the prologue, to the last line, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I smiled, I laughed, I bit my lip, I bit my nails in anticipation. There aren’t many tense scenes, and it’s mostly a story about the love the two share, so it makes sense that the tense scenes weren’t too intense. I just wish it lasted a little bit longer. It seemed rushed.

But talk about epilogues, because these were seriously my favorite. I had tears (of joy) in my eyes at the end. And multiple epilogues! What’s better than multiples?! Nothing I tell you! Nothing!

So amazing job, and four stars for you Ms. Horne! I cannot WAIT to read the others in the series.

Part 2 of my Favorite Series!

6. Malory/Anderson Series by Johanna Lindsey

Reason why it’s my favorite: I think this was the first series I read that had a big family. A family that teased everyone mercilessly, one that would pick fights with each other, but God forbid you tried to mess with them. The Malory/Anderson family is huge, not always so happy, but super protective. And they raise their girls to be whatever they want to be, though Lord save the man that touches her before marriage.

7. Legion of Angels Series by Ella Summers

Reason why it’s my favorite: Leda is 100% badass. She’s an orphan who was taken in by a badass family and she learned to survive. She will do anything for her family, and that includes basically selling her soul. This is not a series that is all about the romance. This is a slow, slow, burn romance, but their love is worth it. But Leda’s main goal? To save her brother. Gimmie some super awesome women and super hot angels and I am one happy girl.

8. House of Payne Series by Stacey Gail

Reason why it’s my favorite: This series is filled with some hot tattoo artists, tons of angst, and breaking the sacred rule in the tattoo universe: don’t get your significant others name tattooed on you; it’s the kiss of death. These artists don’t care, and it is AWESOME. These alpha men want to take care of the women in their lives, but the women are perfectly capable doing it on their own.

9. Until Series by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Reason why it’s my favorite: This is a series that has you falling in love with a family. And it keeps going! Aurora has a series based on the Mayson children, and even a Kindle World releasing with 16 other authors writing in this universe. Which means I get more alpha Maysons in my life, and really, what more could you ask for?

10. Three Little Lies Series by Sara Ney

Reason why it’s my favorite: Sara Ney has a unique writing style, that really captures the technology generation. She uses texts, tweets, and emails to help you fall in love without the physical aspect of a relationship. And her books are all romantic comedies. No real tough situations in these. Looking for a light read? Pick up this series.

BONUS! The Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas

Reason why it’s my favorite: Here’s another series filled with strong women in the Victorian Era. Women not afraid to take what they want, sometimes despite what society says. And their antics are ridiculous, but will have the reader cracking up the whole time.

Until Harmony Review!

until harmony

The book I have SERIOUSLY been waiting for! The next installment of the Until Her series, Until Harmony. The biker and the babe!

Harmony and Willow Mayson are twins, and their parents are Sophie and Nico (which were probably my favorite couple in the original Until series). Harmony has goals, long term and short term. Her life is planned out and scheduled and she works hard to obtain those goals. Harlen MacCabe puts a wrench in those plans in the best way possible.

Compared to the previous novels in the series, there’s not a huge amount of drama. It’s more fluffy. No crazy ex’s no pushing each other away. There’s some tension in the beginning, and then there is craziness at the end (which gives us sneak peeks into Until Cobi coming late 2018) but there wasn’t the massive tension that has been present since the Until books. And I loved it! It was just the right amount of messiness to give the novel substance, and the right amount of romance to keep it from going too dark.

And Nico is there being his usual over-protective, cussing self. And it is glorious.

Harmony got her BOOM, but I’m pretty sure Harlen got his too.

tenor

Until you, I didn’t think I’d find a man who I’d want to spend the rest of my life with. All my other goals have been attainable.  Finding a man who loves me the way you love me seemed outlandish, completely impossible.”

I absolutely devoured this book. I pre-ordered it awhile ago, so when I finished reading another book around 9 this morning, I immediately started reading Harmony’s story. I finished it at 12. Now, I know I’m a fast reader, but I devoured all 200 pages in 3 hours. I think that’s a new record for me. I’m going to need to do a re-read of this novel! It went by way too quickly.

I think one of my favorite things about this novel, was the easy acceptance Harlen has for Harmony’s goals. He wants a life with her, a family with her, and he makes it known, but he also respects her so much, and respects her job so much, that not once (can I repeat that NOT ONCE) does he complain she works too much, or says she should just stay home. He’s so alpha it’s not even funny, but the fact he loves her and respects her and her job just make him that much hotter to me.

Harlen may be my new favorite…

at least until Cobi comes out…
