“I love alpha males…. Yes I know Alpha males are the in thing but they need to be done right and in this book Drake is perfect.” -Aurora Rose Reynolds, New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of the Until Series

“Absolutely loved! I’m a sucker for the over the top, crazy in love alphas. You give me one of those and I’m sold.” -Harper Sloan, New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of the Corps Security Series
Alexa is just your average college junior, attending classes and piloting Mile High Club charter flights. Boys haven’t been on her radar for a couple years after a disastrous breakup with her high school sweetheart. Her plans to focus on school hit a bit of a snag when she meets bad-boy Drake Bennett and he sets his sights on making her his own.

Drake transferred to Blythe College for the rugby team, not for a new assortment of college girls. He’s sexy and cocky, and he attracts women like moths to a flame. When he meets Alexa, Drake knows he’s met his match. She tries to resist him, but Drake isn’t used to taking no for an answer.

This is the first book in the Blythe College series by Amazon Bestselling Author Rochelle Paige. Push the Envelope does not have a cliffhanger.

rochellepaigeI absolutely adore reading – always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.

I am late to the game when it comes to Ms. Paige. I just recently found out that Rochelle Paige and Elle Christensen together write as Fiona Davenport(that has an AWESOME Mafia series that I adore and re-read every chance I get!) This book was free on Amazon so of course I grabbed it up. It’s got some of my favorite things: alphas, college romances, and girls that say HELL NO when a guy is being a dick. And Drake can be a dick of epic proportions.

Alexa and Drake feel an instant pull towards each other, but due to some miscommunication, Drake is rude to Alexa because he thinks she is with someone else. But when Drake finds out that Alexa is very single, he makes sure to wrap it up really quickly.  He makes sure every guy on campus knows there together. And short of tattooing across her forehead, he shows Alexa he’s in it for the long haul. Convincing Alexa of this is a different story.

I absolutely adored Alexa’s take-no-shit attitude and Drake’s alpha-machoness (is that even a word?). I loved Alexa’s relationship with her Dad, and her relationship with her best friend’s family. And I loved the drama! It was the kind of drama that makes you want to bash in Drake’s head, and shake Alexa, but also know that Alexa made smart decisions, while Drake was too busy coming to terms with his excess of emotions.

Plus, Alexa can fly a plane (thanks dad!) and uses that to pay for school. How? Mile-High Plane rides. That’s right ladies and gents, Alexa has a program that lets rich people pay to get their rocks off in the air for a few hours. Not only can Rochelle Paige write a really good book, she’s an entrepreneur. I don’t know if things like this exist, but they should.

And lord, that snippet at the end, it gives you Drake’s POV for some very important scenes. Basically, I loved everything about this book and it is FREE on Amazon! So go get your copy no!

Shoo! Go!

Even if it Breaks Me

**Please note, I suck at taking pictures so I definitely did NOT take the picture above. None of the pictures I have used, or will use, are mine. This one was from Dominique herself!**

arc review 1blurbevenifitbreaksmeAt fourteen years old, I loved him.
Hard.
So hard it hurt.
I loved him, but love isn’t what it was.
It was a game, a lie. And I would never be the same.
I fell in love with a liar, and when the truth was uncovered, he left my heart shattered and never looked back.
So I didn’t either. I moved on, went to college, and I lived my life without him, pushing thoughts of him away whenever they tried to break through the bubble I had created for myself.
I was twenty-four when he came back into my life, a month before I was set to marry someone else, someone who had pieced together the broken parts he had left behind.
I shouldn’t have agreed to meet with him, but I did. I had to.
My heart broke all over again.
My head and heart were officially at war.
I had a choice to make, and it should have been easy, but it wasn’t. Because whatever choice I made, head or heart, I knew it would break me.author16646808

evenifitbreaksme.jpg

SHE DID IT AGAIN. Dominique Laura gave me another novel that had me in tears. This was emotional in a different way, because it’s the story of your first love. She gave me another YA/Contemporary Romance that I connected with on a level I didn’t know I could, since my first love, I thought, wasn’t like Jade’s. My first love was different because it didn’t last years, like Jade’s did. Mine was short (three months!), tumultuous, and definitely didn’t carry over to college. Hell, looking back, I don’t even know if it was love. But throughout the rest of high school, he definitely impacted my life. I’d get the call or text every few months, trying to be friends, and have to learn all over again he was a grade-A jerk.

I think our first love always holds a special place in our hearts. It’s the one I think teaches you the most about what you want in life. It’s the one that hurts the most. It’s the one you thought would last forever, even if your head (and everyone around you) told you it wouldn’t last. There’s manipulation, tears, fights, and happiness.

Going into this, especially with the prologue, I thought for sure I’d root for Jade’s first love. I mean, who doesn’t like to read about the guy you fell in love with, fought to be with, coming back into the girl’s life and they end up together? I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, much like Jade had, with her relationship with Dylan. What was going to be the thing that pushed her towards Tian?

But God, this was so much better. Because it was real.

Dominique eloquently and perfectly describes the falling in love so young, thinking it is going to be your everything, allowing someone to hurt and manipulate you into forgiving them, ignoring the signs they aren’t who you think they are, and the hurt that follows when you have to choose yourself over someone else. Someone you thought you loved. Someone you thought loved you. She describes the hardships of falling in love with someone new.

Dominique: Keep writing your amazing stories. They are beautiful, and you have a true gift! I will gladly have tissues and ice cream ready for every tale you weave, as long as you continue to do it.
Everyone else: GET THIS BOOK! And when it releases, look in the back for true lessons readers learned from their first love. (Which I will be getting just to read those stories).

Living In the Gray

arc review 1blurbin the gray“There isn’t always a clean beginning and ending to every story. Instead of something being black or white, it’s a mixture of both, forming a nice shade of gray.”

Writer Lori Stevens was eighteen when she was assaulted by her mentor, learning people aren’t always what they seem the hard way. She’s found solace living in the gray, keeping everyone at arm’s length with her secrets safely tucked away.
When the biggest story of her career hits too close to home, Lori is forced to face her demons and question everything—like her feelings for Steven Duncan.

Steven was meant to be nothing more than a failed one-night stand, but when a cruel twist of fate brings him back into her life, she begins falling for him.

There’s one slight problem: he’s dating her best friend.

Officer Steven Duncan is no stranger to tragedy, but that never stopped him from searching for his fairytale. Now, he’s dating the perfect girl, only it’s the wrong girl who feels right.

Steven is willing to fight for Lori—to step outside the boundaries of his black and white world—but can they find happiness living in the gray?

First, Thank you. Thank you for writing this book. I don’t normally read love triangles, because they’re messy. I like romances because I escape from reality, and I’ve got enough mess in my life. But when I read the blurb for this book, and had an opportunity to read it, I asked for the chance. Something I forgot about emotional reads? They can rock your world, rip you apart from the inside out, and still leave you wanting more at the end.

Lori Stevens was not a like-able character. God, I wanted to shake her and scream at her so many times it’s not even funny. She has suffered heartache that no one ever should, so she’s been busy pushing everyone away, worrying about everyone else’s happiness, believing she doesn’t deserve it.

Steven Duncan is a nice guy, who I loved from the beginning, who chases Lori as much as possible, but she never lets up. When he meets someone new, someone who makes love easy, he takes it as a sign to move on. The problem? His perfect girl is Lori’s best friend, Cat. WHAT A MESS! Although I loved Steven from the beginning, LORD did I want to throat punch him sometimes. The relationship with Cat, though, allows both Steven and Lori to become close, under the guise of friendship.

There is no cheating happening in this book. Both Lori and Steven try to ignore their feelings for each other, try to be friends, for the sake of Cat. They do not cross physical boundaries. Not once.

Growing up, I think I’ve had the “what is rape?” talk many times. I had to watch a video starring Kristen Stewart on my first day of college detailing date rape, and other kinds of rape. When I watched the video, I felt my heart in my throat thinking “Wait, that’s rape? That’s assault?” They still didn’t cover being groomed for assault. They didn’t talk about the stigma that follows you when you try to report something that happened. “Should women be arrested for falsely reporting rape?” pictures are all over different social media on any given day. We still live in a world that tries to blame the victim because they don’t understand that even though you didn’t say no, or you said no then said yes, you do not want to be in the situation you’re in. This book had me in tears, telling the story of three women suffering from assault that they were trained to believe was not assault. They were manipulated and lied to, so they would keep quiet and never tell their story.

So thank you, A.D. McCammon. Thank you for writing this story. Thank you for giving me Lori and Steven to stay with me forever. Thank you for telling a story that needed to be told. This will be a book I recommend to anyone I can, because it’s that good, and that heartbreaking. Thank you for writing a story about a side of assault we (at least I) don’t normally hear about. Just, thank you.

KL Donn has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and has been added to short list of one-click authors. Brantley’s Way didn’t let me down in the slightest (though I can see how the Adair empire is effecting her writing…) I absolutely LOVED every single page of this novel and cannot wait to for book 2 (wait, THERE IS A BOOK 2 RIGHT?)

Brantley meets Adilynn by chance, but when he does he is knocked out of his boots. Due to her home life, he has to make a decision on whether he wants to pursue her or not. His answer is pretty easy: HELL YES. Adilynn isn’t so sure of his intentions. She’s basically single handedly raising her brother, Luke, while her mother runs around hating her children. The whole town seems to ignore how Ady and Luke’s mother treats them. Brantley doesn’t like this ONE bit.

Brantley has his own issues though, and they include trying to protect Ady and Luke from their mother and the town, as well as his uncle coming back to town. He also has to deal with getting Ady to trust him, getting Luke to trust him, and getting a surly horse to do what he wants.

I loved this book from page one to the end. It has an over protective big sister, an alpha male, a cowboy, and a ranch. I’ve always loved country books, something about a rough cowboy has always made my heart beat a little faster, but I am obsessed with this book. It had the perfect amount of overworked damsel who was trying hard not to be in distress, plus some suspense, and an alpha cowboy who wants to support his woman while also wanting her where he can see her at all times.

Do yourself a favor y’all, heh, go pick up this book!

She would keep their secret. To protect her brother. To protect herself.

Then he showed up.

He’s out to catch a criminal and asking for her help.

Brock, the incredibly inquisitive — He wasn’t going to give up.
Brock, the guy with the GQ looks and bad boy reputation — He wasn’t denying it.

YES! The references to committing their other half is back! Let’s be honest, if you haven’t considered seriously murdering and or committing someone to a mental hospital, do you really love them?

Ever since Andi slapped Brock in Break, I have been looking forward to their story. Brock’s obsession with keeping tabs on everyone and everything made for a good mental patient- I mean love interest. It’s bad enough to have an alpha that is obsessed with your safety and has psychopathic tendencies, but add in a tech genius and what do you get? Madness. And I loved every second of it.

Brock and Andi have chemistry off the charts, and they’re not afraid to give the other one hell. Andi has a rough past, one that she is hiding from if only to protect her brother, and Brock is hell bent and determined to find out what that past is. For someone who knows everything, can crack every puzzle, he has a hard time cracking Andi. So he goes about it the old fashioned way- seduction. Andi fights hard to trust Brock, but the nature of his job means he’s kept secrets. Secrets that affect their relationship.

This book didn’t have as many plot twists as the previous one, thank God because I don’t know if my heart could handle it, to be honest. There were still a few, and they were good ones, but makes you question whether Brock really is insane or if he’s got the right idea. I love that Andi puts Brock through hell, but Brock puts her through just as much. He is known as a player and flirt, but from the moment he met Andi, he stopped.

Are we going to see more of Brock’s dungeon though? Because I really like the dungeon…

The Lakefield crew is as crazy as ever, but they stick together. I cannot WAIT for Damage to be released in three weeks. Each of these books has gotten better and better, and Jennifer’s wit continues to keep me laughing the whole time.

blurb
break.jpgEveryone has their breaking point.

Kaitlyn has had a crush on Dr. Logan Matthews for months. His dark hair, blue eyes and fit body are just some of the reasons why he’s the perfect guy.

The problem is he seems to want nothing to do with Kaitlyn. When they have bumped into each other, he’s gruff, overbearing and he seems to cause the worst luck for her.

Until one day when everything seems to go unnaturally wrong in her life.

Now he’s sending naughty pictures, playing with her, and acting more interested than ever. Although her friends find the encounters they’ve had funny and her best friend tells her to just have fun, there’s something confusing about his attention.

He says they’re just being friendly but they’re moving into the “more than friendly” zone. Everything should be great. Right?

Things aren’t always what people see on the surface. The greatest obstacles they face may be the ones that neither of them see coming.

Holy Plot Twist Batman! So far, this book has been my favorite in the series (though I still need to read Chase!) I absolutely adored Kaitlyn (obviously since she’s named after me even though it’s spelled differently *hair flip*). She was sweet and loving, but also had strength I envy. She is one of the most caring women in the books, and tries not to purposely drive everyone around her insane, but she stands her ground when she’s mistreated.

Kate and Logan’s story actually starts in Hide. We can see their chemistry, see the snippets that there’s something wrong with Logan, but we don’t know what’s going on. Kate thinks Logan hates her, but he’s actually ridiculously obsessed with her, in all the best ways. However, he’s got his own issues to deal with, which includes dealing with his body after the incident in Run. With dealing with his pain comes an addiction… and addiction that numbs him to most everything except Kate.

One of my favorite things about this book is the interactions between these two via text… which also comes with more Brock! And Logan risks those texts being seen by Brock, so you know it’s serious. The humor is as present as it is in the previous two books, without as many references to murdering and hiding the body of mental patients. Which, in my opinion, is a shame.

I love how innocent Kate is, but still willing to forgive someone when they deserve it. i love how she’s so innocent she doesn’t understand why Logan doesn’t like her in short dresses. I love how Logan does his own groveling. I love basically everything about this book, from beginning to end.

Except there’s one plot twist I didn’t like. You’ll know when you get there. I’ve complained to the author already, but I’m trying not to go all Mercy/Stephen King on her to change it.

…But you can’t Hide

I received a copy of Run, Hide, Break & Chase, in exchange for honest reviews. Here’s my second one…

blurbhideIt was inevitable that Julia would run into Holden Saunders again. The one person she dreaded seeing and wanted to see the most.

He was still as gorgeous as the first time they had met. Muscular, tall, with his golden brown eyes that said more than what he spoke. They’re opposites in so many ways. He was closed off, and so utterly irritating the last time she was around him. He was rude and bossy but the one man she had been dreaming about for the last year.

Now that she’s back in Lakefield, Julia is getting to know the real Holden. He’s resorting to blackmail, physical dominance and isn’t listening to her protests. He’s the one that tempts her with his vulgar mouth and makes her body sing like no other man.

She can’t decide whether to punch him or kiss him. Maybe both.

They’re up against stalkers, the media, and a lot of bizarre circumstances as she makes a decision about her music career.

But he’s making his intent crystal clear: he’ll protect her, possess her, and make her beg.

Everyone hides something. Julia should know. She’s been trying to hide from her past for the last year. But this troublesome, mischievous man, may not let her hide any longer.

Julia and Holden were freaking hilarious. I’ve only read one other book from Jennifer Vester, but I honestly had no idea what to expect going into Hide. After finishing Run, I was excited to see how Julia and Holden got together, I just wasn’t expecting it to be a year after Run took place. But Julia needed that time to pretend to heal after everything that went down the year before. I say pretend, because I think she was just ignoring what had happened, not really dealing with it.

When Julia and Holden first met it was instant attraction, mixed with some fire and ice. Julia was all over the place hot, and Holden was literally known as Mr. Ice. Julia continues to believe they just wouldn’t work together, which is part of the reason it takes her a year to come back to Lakefield. What she wasn’t expecting, was to see the human side of Holden. The side that freaks out over her safety. The side that laughs and jokes with her. The side that is totally caveman. The side that is soft and gentle, with only her.

Julia didn’t stand a freaking chance.

One of the things I love about this book and the previous, is the humor infused within every page. Even in the times that are scary, the characters keep it from becoming too heavy. I love Julia’s constant references to having Holden admitted, and Holden flustering the heck out of Julia. These two were explosive in the best way.

Usually, I sympathize heavily with the heroine that has to deal with the alpha male-cause feminism. But in this case, I feel soooo bad for Holden. Julia would drive me to the insane asylum. But it was so funny! And Holden’s parents? I love them. (I’m hoping I see more of them in the next two books…)

My advice? Hop, skip and jump your way over to amazon to pick up this book! Join the Lakefield craziness!

I am so completely and utterly wrecked by this book. I won a copy of this book in a giveaway (join Madison’s Maniacs for updates and more giveaways ;)) from the amazing Women Who Stare At Books, Yamina. I laughed, I cried, I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt, and I died a little on the inside when this book finished. Single parent books always tug at the heart strings, but this one got me. It got me.

Sports star? Check.
Single dad? Check.
Little boy that’s so loveable you want to hug him and squeeze him? Check.
Evil birth mother? Check.
Heroine that loves the little boy like her own? Check.
Big, epic, crazy families? Check.
Alpha males? Check.
DOUBLE EPILOGUE? Check.

Seriously, does this book need anything else? Besides being turned into a movie? This book was so fantastic, I wish I could give it more than five stars. Zack and Denise were so freaking amazing as individuals, but they come together and it’s indescribable how awesome they are. And God, little Jack makes me weep with how strong he is. I want to be just like him when I grow up.

I read Something So Irresistible in preparation for this book, and read it in like five hours, then immediately picked up SSU and just devoured the whole thing. I stayed up all night to read this book. It is that good.  Natasha Madison has somehow created an alpha male that wants to rip someone’s head off for even thinking about his girl, while also being able to show his emotions without being thought of as weak (and Zack has so many reasons to show how he’s feeling). It was so amazing and wonderful to be able to read about a man crying, and not one iota of teasing from anyone else. They are able to fully, whole heatedly, fall in love and wreck me emotionally in the process.

This has got to be, hands down, one of the best novels I’ve read this year (and I’ve read a ton of amazing books this year). This book will forever stay with me. I will come back to Jack, Denise, and Zack when I’m needing strength, when I need to smile, or when I need to drool over some hockey players (lets go NJ Devils!). I’m begging you, go pick this book up today. Now. Buy it in paperback, ebook, I don’t care. You need to read this book. You need to have Natasha Madison in your life, and you need the Morrows, Grants, Hortons, and Stones in your life. You need the Stingers.

After a couple of difficult missions, I’m ready to get back to what I’m good at—eliminating bad guys and making it look like an accident. Plus, I’ll jump at any chance to spend time with Clarice, my best friend with benefits who meets me on all of my jobs.

Will this be the mission Clarice finally admits she wants more than friendship? Or will I have to wait… Until We Meet Again?

Happily Ever Alpha Kindle WorldauthorkdrobKD Robichaux wanted to be a romance author since the first time she picked up her mom’s Sandra Brown books at the ripe old age of twelve. She went to college to become a writer, but then married and had babies. Putting her dream job on hold to raise her family as a stay at home mom, who read entirely too much, she created a blog where she could keep her family and friends up-to-date on all the hottest reads. From there, by word of mouth, her blog took off and she began using her hard-earned degree as a Senior Editor for Hot Tree Editing. When her kids started school, and with the encouragement from her many author friends, she finally sat down and started working on her first series, The Blogger Diaries, her very own real life romance.

Um, EXCUSE YOU MRS. ROBICHAUX. How dare you give me this masterpiece without a proper ending? I need their HEA. I give this book NEGATIVE 5 STARS because it’s not done!

Ok, I’m being dramatic. Sue me. This book was more than five stars. It was short and sweet and I may have fallen just a little (ok, a lot) in love with Brian. He’s full of contradictions and I freaking love the giant. The title maybe should have given it away but it didn’t so I want more.

I’m usually a bit hesitant about BDSM club books. By hesitant, I mean I don’t read them. I have to look things up because I have no idea what they’re using, or the sub culture is just too much for me, or the guy is into voyeurism and I like guys that are too alpha to let their women be seen by other guys. BDSM clubs just aren’t my kind of kink.

Usually.

I have the first Club Alias book on my kindle, but haven’t read it yet because of my hesitance of BDSM. I’ve read books with it before, and I’ve liked them, but I don’t usually willingly read a book about it (I suck at reading blurbs!). Plus with all the new releases, I kept pushing it off. But, now that I’ve read this book, I NEED to read the rest of the series. I need to know more about Brian and Clarice. I need it. I’m like that Spongebob meme right now (you know the one so don’t pretend like you don’t). I also need their HEA, which I’ve heard they’re going to get, but obviously I don’t have it in my hands right now.

Like it should be. If I beg, will it come out faster? Please?

I loved reading this because it was all in Brian’s POV. It was so fun to see someone so tall (6’8″, hubba hubba) be so deeply in love with Clarice, be so gentle with her, yet also be a Dom. He loves her, and trusts her, to switch with her. He trusts her with info on his jobs, which I think I love more than anything else. It’s so different than the “I can’t tell you but it’s for your protection” thing. This book was short, sweet, and sexy, so I’m going to make my review short and sweet too (but not sexy). Go get this book, because you will LOVE it. This was my first KD book but it won’t be my last!

I’ve been reading as long as I’ve been walking, though I never done the two together (I’m rather clumsy). With the birth of my second son I became a stay-at-home mom and found when the little one took a nap I had a WHOLE hour to myself.

I wanted nothing more than to escape for that hour and thus a love for writing was born.

Holy fireworks, batman. This book has a single parent, ex-baby mama drama, and a hot daddy with an accent. Not just an accent, but an Irish/Scottish lilt, and if that doesn’t make you hot, I don’t know what will.

Natalie is a teacher who has a student, Thomas, that has been acting out. She schedules a meeting with Thomas’ parents, which is where she meets Mr. Tall-Dark and Handsome with an accent, August. August shows up late to the meeting, is a big ol’ Mr. Grumpy-pants, so returns later to apologize. These two have the instant connection, the instant love, they have to wait until Natalie is no longer Thomas’ teacher before they can get together.

The problem? Baby-mama is a grade A… well, you know. She causes major issues for this couple, because Natalie has a past. A past she has worked hard to move on from. She is a new person, who’s trying to make it work with a super hot dad.

I loved many things about this book. I loved the texting, I loved the drunk/hungover scenes, I loved the realness Elle Jefferson added into the insta-love factor, and I loved August’s unwillingness to give up. And when they get together, finally, it’s like fireworks and explosions and BOOM! I wish there was an epilogue (because, hello, I need more!) and I don’t know how old the characters are. Age is not important, but I don’t like trying to guess ages or do math to figure it out. I suck at math.

Elle’s contribution to the Happily Ever Alpha series was FAB! Thank you Elle!
